A template is an easy way to pre-fill information that stays the same from recipe to recipe. For instance, the author name, the equipment used (and its calibration).

To make a default template:

In a new recipe window, enter the author name and establish the various volume characteristics. (i.e. 'Kettle Volume', 'Final Volume'...etc). Add the equipment you will use by default. To do this select the 'Display' menu under the beer glass graphic, and select 'Equipment'. Add a new brewing vessel by selecting 'New' and selecting 'Vessel'.

A new window opens up. Enter all of the specifications for your vessel such as dimensions and capacity. Use the 'Vessel Calibration' tool to determine the heat capacity of your vessel. Click 'OK' when you are done.

Next add a new heat source by selecting 'New' and selecting 'Heat Source'. Use the 'Heat Source Calibration' tool to determine the heat transfer of your heat source. Click 'OK' when you are done.

To make this a default template, select 'File' and 'Make Default'. This saves the current state of the recipe window. By default each time you open a new blank recipe it will pre-load your brewing system.

Many brewers have several different brewing systems. These different brewing systems are easily created by following the previous steps and then selecting 'File' and 'Save As Template'. These can named to describe the various systems that you use for brewing (i.e.5gal, 10gal...etc).

To load one of your predefined templates select 'File' and 'Load Template'. Navigate to the templates you have created and select 'Open'.
